Background

The Zimbabwe Association of Trainees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology is a member of World Association of Trainees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (WATOG), an organisation formed on 7 October 2012 under the auspices of FIGO.Zimbabwe was represented among the 51 founding countries by Dr Joyce Mukewa-Kunaka. WATOG is a non-profit organization that represents the first worldwide network of young obstetricians and gynaecology. ts main mission is to provide Trainees in the world with the highest level of education, to overcome cultural and gender barriers and to facilitate contact and exchange between members from different countries.

The first elected president was Dr Tarirai Madamombe. The founding members are now consultants.
